STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Cory Weston, University of North Dakota

MISSIONS FOCUS: Ted & Debra Welch, ABWE - Ukraine

  • Russian language is coming along—“we understand so much more, and Ted is doing very well in expressing himself… The Christians seem to ber very interested in helping us learn the language and in being helpful in general.”

  • Following completion of language training, Ted’s primary ministry will be teaching, but we will also be involved in planting a church here in Odessa.

  • Pray for our son, David, serving the Air Force in Iraq.

CHURCH LEADERSHIP-- ANNUAL MEETING ELECTION RESULTS:

  • Confirmed for 3-year terms to the office of Elder: Donald Dewey, David Schroeder; Confirmed for a 1-year term; Charles Scherer

  • Confirmed for 3-year terms to the office of Deacon:Phil Cook, Arlo Gunderson, Douglas Tinquist

PLEASE NOTE:

Our Constitution states that “The officers of the church shall be at least seven Elders…” Since we have only six Elders currently, Marv Lutterman, who just completed a 1-year elected term, has agreed to be considered for one more year. We will have a brief Congregational Meeting after the Sunday Morning Service on May 11, for a membership vote on this consideration.

FRI., 6:00?? Ladies’ Crafting/Fellowship Night—ladies of all ages are welcome to come with a project (knitting, quilting, scrap-booking, mending, artwork…) to work on, and spend some quality time together in the Sparks Room! There’s lots of room to spread out!

8-Midnight – Teen Night at the church for grades 7-12.

May 20, noon, BUILDERS ’(55+) Potluck Picnic at the Government Dam on Hwy. 2 West of Grand Rapids. Bring food to share and table service for yourselves.

May 25, 9:00 a.m. Laurence and Shirley Sutherland will be sharing with the Adult Sunday School Classes of their 50 years of service and ministry for the Lord. There will be an Program at 3:00 p.m.in the afternoon followed by an Open House Fellowship and Coffee hour with opportunity to visit with them.

May 25, 10:15 a.m. Rev. Ken Polley will speak during the morning worship.

May 29, 7:00 p.m. Grace Christian School Graduation and Awards Night. Kristi Morris graduates from GCS this year.

July 21-25 have been set aside for Vacation Bible School this year. The Theme is “AMAZON EXPEDITION: the Ultimate Trek Through Time” using materials from Answers in Genesis.

The NURSERY/CHILDREN’S CHURCH COMMITTEE is looking for help with supplies for the children’s ministries. If you would like to sign up to provide an item or two, there is a table in the lobby with suggestions.

  • Electronic Message Boards (“blog spots”) have been set up for three areas: Church events (contact Carolyn Adamson), Youth announcements (Contact Pastor Rygh) and Grace Christian School postings (Contact Bryan Kemen). You can get information to these people by using the “Contact Us” tab at the top of the home page, which will send an email, or a phone call will work, as well.

  • This is a quick way to get information posted…i.e. cancellations, reports or announcements of gatherings or meetings.

We look forward to making the church’s website a helpful tool for those in the congregation, as well as a way for people in the community to learn more abut Grace. If there are things you would like to see on the site, please let us know.
