Missions - Paul and Liz Bowman with Stephanie and Tyler

We have served with TEAM since 1995, first in Bogotá, Colombia and then in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Since November 2006, our desire is to develop a community of believers who puts God’s Word into practice in Boadilla, a suburb of Madrid, Spain. The vision is to share God’s love with the leadership class and establish a community that is doctrinally sound, financially self-sustaining, self-reproducing, multi-staffed, with culturally relevant worship and a vision for national and international missions.
Our initial contact with Grace Bible Chapel was through Paul’s parents, who were also supported by Grace. We attended a missions conference at Grace in 1995.
I, Paul, grew up in a Christian home on the mission field in Spain. Therefore, I was very familiar with what the Bible teaches at a young age. At the age of five, I realized that I needed to make a personal decision about my relationship with the Lord. At that point, I decided to make Him the Lord and Savior of my life. Since then I have grown spiritually through my own personal devotions, weekly church services and the encouragement of my parents and close friends.
Active participation in church-related ministries has also helped develop a closer walk with God. Growing up with parents who were in ministry showed me the importance of serving God with all my heart. At the age of fifteen, I felt that God was asking me to serve him in full-time ministry on the mission field. At that point, I made the decision to be a missionary if God continued to lead in that direction. I involved myself as much as possible in ministry activities throughout high school and college. Then, between my junior and senior years at Grace College, I served in Colombia on a short-term missions trip. This experience opened my eyes to the needs in South America. After I graduated form Grace Seminary in 1993, God led Liz and me to Colombia for a ten-month church-planting internship. During this time, God confirmed to us that Colombia was where we were to minister. My home church is First Baptist Church of Wheaton, Wheaton, Illinois.
I, Liz, was raised in a Christian home and accepted the Lord into my heart at the age of three with my family. I had a wonderful heritage growing up at Camp Forest Springs and experiencing vibrant Christian ministry on a daily basis. At the age of 13, I rededicated my life to the Lord with a deeper understanding of the commitment. Since that time, I have made a daily effort to deepen my relationship with Him and my understanding of His Word. My prayer is to be used by Him to my fullest.
As I grew up, I had a strong desire to serve the Lord through full-time Christian work. I was open to the Lord’s leading. Then in college, the Lord brought Paul into my life and together we prayed about serving Him together in missions. My desire to serve in overseas missions has grown through the years of God directing my life, through my relationship with Paul and through our ten-month internship in Bogotá. My home church is Woodland Community Church, Westboro, Wisconsin.
