Missions - Stu and Cristina Grewatz, with Erica & Daniel

Our first contact with Grace Bible Chapel was through Charlie and Coral Nelson. Actually, God used them to bring us together as a couple! Stu participated on a work team in 1990 led by the Nelsons to Costa Rica, where Stu met Cristina. We were married in March 1992, became candidates with CAM in 1994 after Stu’s graduation from Moody Graduate School, and participated in our first missions conference at Grace Bible Chapel in 1995, before leaving for the mission field in 1997 with support from several families from Grace.

Stu came to know Christ just after graduation from West Point in 1981, and became interested in missions during the Urbana 1984 Intervarsity Student Missions Conference. After leaving the Army in 1986, he served for 15 months in Mexico City. During this first short-term missions experience, he saw first-hand the needs in the world’s largest city, as well as the opportunity for this ripe harvest field to become a sending base for Latin missionaries through the multiplication of local churches with a global vision for missions. The Bible churches of Mexico City hope to send their first home-grown missionaries to reach Muslims in Turkey during 2008. Please pray for this growing vision for world missions in Mexico.

Cristina came to know Christ as Savior at the age of 12. She attended her first missions conference in a CAM church in Costa Rica during her teen years and God placed in her heart the needs of Spain and Mexico.

When we were married, God confirmed to us His call to Mexico City, where we have served with CAM since 1998. We have equipped the Villa de las Flores Bible Church to start church plants in north central Mexico City: Bosques del Valle in 1998, Heroes Coacalco in 2002, and we recently moved to a new neighborhood in September 2007 to begin a third church plant in Joyas de Cuautitlan. We focus on small groups as a context for reaching neighbors, multiplying leaders, and beginning a movement of reproducing churches. Stu is also serving as CAM Director and strategy coordinator for the 12 missionary families in the Mexico City metro area that serve among 12 Bible churches, and six CAM church plants.
