Schools Fast Approaching

As summer draws down it's time to consider where you children will be going to school after Labor day. Private education is one affordable option that is catching a lot of interest. Our School provides a safe, independent learning environment that allows you child to concentrate on the 3 R's instead what trend everyone else is into. Grace Christian School uses a system of independent study that allows each child to work at their own pace - to excel in the subjects that come easy to them and to get one on one help in the areas that they may struggle with. They do not get left behind - each workbook is tested about every 3 weeks and if they don't get a passing grade they must repeat that workbook before they can proceed in that subject. Each workbook is an important step in the process of learning to master each subject. If you value your child's education consider private schooling - it's the right choice for their future.

Scavenger Hunt on the Town

Friday, May 2, 2008, we took the kids (4th-12th grade) on a scavenger hunt around town. It was great fun! Oh, the crazy things kids will do for a contest! Some items had to be collected, while other items required taking pictures. Here are a few samples of what they had to do...

Pictures:
group with a mannequin
person walking a dog
group riding a kiddie ride
group members modeling cool hats
person in uniform
smallest house you can find
yellow car
"I can't believe we all fit in here!"
license plates from 5 different states

Items to collect:
receipt for 50 cents of gasoline (which didn't buy much!)
shoe box
ATM envelope
one cent stamp
maple leaf
sandwich wrapper from Subway
disposable coffee cup signed by an employee
take out menu from Ground Round
job application from Dairy Queen

The team members had to decode messages to determine what they had to find or do. They were very competitive and had a good time. The consensus was....."Miss L., we HAVE to do this again next year!" We'll see......
