SERMON NOTES: Pastor Ken Polley, Sept. 7, 2008

STAYING FOCUSED

*Doing the ‘Right’ Things Right”

I. What is the Point? (recap – July 20)

The point is changed lives!

Our Primary Task: To Make Disciples—Matthew 28:18-20

  • Leading Individuals to Jesus

  • Developing individuals in their relationship with Jesus

  • Helping individuals share Jesus

II. What Is the Process? (recap – July 27)

The Process is Serving Others!!

Our Primary Method: To Live Out the Example of Jesus—Phil. 2:1-11

  • Looking Out for the Needs of Others

  • Surrendering Our Comfort

  • Changing Lives through Sacrificial Action

III. What Is the Price?

The Price is Everything! But Nothing!

Our Primary Price:

To be living sacrifices in worship of Jesus. Romans 12:1,2

  • Eternal rewards from temporary “costs.”

  • Investing faithfully in others

  • Going to the Next Level

IV. What is the Problem?

A Primary Problem: Poor Relationships among followers of

Jesus -- Colossions 3:5-14

  • When wronged, forgive

  • When wrong, admit it and make it right

  • A bad reaction is as ungodly as a bad action
